“My life has always been about the arts – it has led me on many wonderful and varied adventures that constantly nourish my soul and make my heart sing.” JWF
Jane Flowers’ artistic adventures began as a child and continued though young adulthood with classical piano training in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In college she majored in Merchandising and Design at Louisiana State University before earning her BS Degree from the University of Wyoming. Her husband, Steve, is a Wyoming native, where the two met while he was teaching her the art of fly fishing.
The next adventure brought the couple to Houston, Texas, where they started a family and found new artistic passion being fulfilled by restoring and decorating historic and architecturally significant homes. Jane’s next foray was into the fashion jewelry business as a designer and manufacturer of “art-to-wear” that led to her jewelry being sold in the finest department stores and boutiques across the country, with her work being featured on such prestigious magazine covers as Vogue, Elle and Glamour.
Jane began her fine arts journey ten years ago as she fearlessly ventured into oil painting, gathering honors for her work along the way. She has had workshops and studied with well known artists Cheri Christensen, Camille Przewodek, C. W. Mundy, John C. Traynor, Pam Ingalls, Kathryn Mapes Turner, Dwayne Hardy and Baton Rouge artist, Libby Johnson, at Studio de Leoni.
Jane is drawn to the dramatic play between light and shadow on her subjects – and is noted for her attention to detail, fine craftsmanship, and rich sumptuous colors.
Her work can be found in private and state collections around the country. Flowers holds memberships in Associated Women in the Arts, Louisiana Art and Artist Guild, Baton Rouge Art League, Oil Painters of America and Jackson Hole Art Association.
Jane Flowers paints at Studio 9170 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Studio visits are by appointment only.
